Institutes for Women and Global Change

Institutes for Women and Global Change are dedicated to changing the world to assure the survival and well being of generations to come. We do this by offering workshops, publications and information aimed to promote peace and develop leadership styles for promoting positive changes in communities around the globe. Many of the in-depth processes come from Sufi, Buddhist, Indigenous and other traditions. The Institutes focus on validating and drawing forth the unique strengths of each participant. The work stemmed from the message in The Root of All Evil: An Exposition of Prejudice, Fundamentalism and Gender Imbalance, a book exposing the results of 4,000+ years of patriarchal dominance.

The Global Room

Our mission is to provide a virtual room where women from different cultures come together for dialogue and understanding; where impoverishment gives way to empowerment; and where every woman is awakened to the other. AIKIDO

North County Aikikai

NC Aikikai is based in Solana Beach, CA. It's website notes that "Aikido is a contemporary martial art that speaks to the violence and uncertainty of our time. It's founder, Morihei Ueshiba, known as O'Sensei to his students, called it the "ART OF PEACE" for it shows the way to deal with aggression without violence. Aikido emerged from Japanese culture and incorporates the most refined of their martial and spiritual traditions. In Japanese, AI-KI-DO means "the way of harmony with the force and principal of nature". O'sensei believed our energy to be more fruitfully directed building inner strength and learning how to harmonize with others than fighting with them. This is the heart of aikido that distinguishes it from other martial arts."
